How To Balance Energy During Lunar & Solar Eclipses

I don’t know about you, but the energies this week between the Lunar Eclipse of May 28th, and the Solar Eclipse of June 10th have thrown me into feeling somewhere between “wired” and “tired”! This is what eclipses and changes in the moon cycles can do to us! Not to mention, it’s Mercury Retrograde until June 22nd, which usually throws us all for a loop! So how do we balance energy in our minds, bodies, and spirits at eclipse times? Well here’s your lesson in mini-meltdown prevention!

Balance Energy with the Moon Cycles

First of all, it may help to understand how the moon can regulate our emotions. The moon has a strong, gravitational pull that changes the tides in the ocean. When it’s a new moon, or a full moon, our emotions swell like the tides, and our feelings are more intense. We are, after all, made up mostly of water – the same substance of the Universe. So it makes sense that our moods will fluctuate with the moon and the ocean tides.

In a lunar eclipse, the Earth sits between the sun and the moon, preventing the moon’s usual bright illumination. It occurs during the full moon phase. During this time, we can think about releasing, purging, and letting go of that which no longer serves us.

The new moon phase is a time where we can set our intentions and decide what we want to manifest. We can create, transform, and start a-new.

If we become aware of the moon cycles, we can prepare ourselves accordingly, know when things may go awry, and know what to do about it to balance energy within us in healthy ways.

Balance Energy Before, During, and After an Eclipse

During a solar eclipse, the moon sits between the Earth and sun, blocking the sun. It occurs during the the new moon phase, rather than full moon. With the sun blocked by the moon, there is a different vibrational energy frequency. This may create sudden shifts that move us towards or away from things more quickly. In turn, these energy shifts affect our internal energy, and cause all sorts of chaos, drama, and miscommunications.

Eclipses have more to do with the magnetic poles, and opposites like light and dark. Things are illuminated and revealed, first within ourselves, and then in our relationships. Eclipses can reveal karmic patterns or habits from our dark places that block our flow of energy. Before, during, and after an eclipse, this karmic energy may come to the surface, and it needs to be balanced, just like all energetic systems need balance.

We Are Nature – So Balance Energy Like Nature

How do we balance energy that has gone haywire? Well, when we realize we are not actually separate from nature, but are one and same, we can learn a lot from how nature balances energy. We are part of the web of life, made of the same elements, and we grow, evolve, and blossom like wildflowers on a hillside. The sun always shines again after a rain, and the tides settle down. So, too, can we bring ourselves into balance, equilibrium, and a place of neutrality and peace.

Balance Your Life Force Energy

Our life force energy flows through us, from root to crown chakra in its own magnetic field, and we can balance energy by practicing things like yoga and meditation. This allows us to ride the waves when they rise, particularly during eclipses when there’s a disruption in the magnetic field, and we feel wired, tired, lethargic, and over-sensitive.

What I’ve learned from my yoga teachers, and at Life Force Academy is that our greatest life force is Love. We feel the most authentic love, kindness, and compassion in the calm, empty spaces between pleasure and pain, smooth and rocky. Through yoga, meditation, and chanting mantras, we can bring our karmic patterns to the surface. The lunar and solar eclipse energies speed this up. When we’re really aware of our patterns, and feel the pain of them, this is when we balance energy, come into harmony, and transform.

Ultimately, we want to transform our karma into dharma. This means transforming old habits that don’t serve us into a meaningful purpose and passion in our lives. This happens through a balance of love and wisdom. When we balance energy between the two, our soul purpose is more often revealed, and we can offer loving kindness to others from the wellspring of our own sustained happiness.

Simply put, yoga, meditation, and chanting help tune the vessel that is our body. It helps bring it into alignment with the vibrations and frequency of the Universe, so that we can heal past traumas, addictions, or wounds that come to the surface, especially during times of the eclipse. This healing allows us to find our joy and peace, so that we can balance energy and share it with others.

Find Balance Through Grounding

In times like these with so much happening in our world, our emotions may be extra intense, and more so during the eclipse. So it’s very important to balance energy through grounding exercises and practices. This means that we are not up in our heads, swirling with anger, guilt, blame, or shame. We are also not out of our bodies and spacey.

Rather, we are balanced between being grounded at our roots, while also being elevated in our consciousness. Like a tree, we have firm roots in the ground from which we can grow into a beautiful tree, reaching towards the heavens. The more stable we are at the roots, the more lush the tree can grow.

Spending time in nature, and a regular practice of yoga and meditation can help you get into this balanced energy state. Simply walking barefoot on the grass can do wonders for your energy. When things are intense, and you’ve spent too much time in front of the screens, you can get quite frazzled. I often feel like I have “screen-face”! Feeling the earth beneath your feet can bring your electro-magnetic field back into equilibrium.
