I felt like a little kid the other night when I was out for a bike ride in the city, over-joyed by the simplest things! That is what mindfulness is all about! The evening delight? A new pedestrian and cyclist bridge, reopened after 3 long years of redevelopment. There’s something about crossing a bridge that brings me so much pleasure! The excitement of a grand view, the thrill of crossing over into the unknown, and the possibilities waiting for me on the other side!

A bridge! What a perfect way to start a blog with a focus on mindfulness! When we are mindful, we pay attention to the present moment. For example, we notice and learn lessons from nature, wildlife, and whatever is right in front of us. A bridge is a symbol of crossing over to another realm, or embarking on a new journey. It is met with excitement and anticipation, or with trepidation and fear of what lies ahead on the other side.

Our minds often create and distort our realities. If we are not mindful, we meet the bridge with fear, and may never cross over to see what opportunities and possibilities lie on the other side. We are stuck and immobilized by our own imagined fear.

If we meet the bridge with excitement and anticipation of new beginnings and possibilities, we cross over it. New doors open that we may never have expected or imagined. This gateway may lead us to a new job, a new relationship, or a new way of being that we never thought possible. A bridge is a gateway, and there are many gateways to having a more positive, peaceful, calm mindset and life.

I chose this photo not only for the bridge! The Autumn leaves are also changing colour. What is the lesson before us? The leaves represent change, letting go of that which no longer serves us, and embarking on a new journey – perhaps to health, wealth, connection, or positive mindset.

With that thought, I welcome you to MindfulNatureNut – A meeting place where we can be mindful together, conquer life’s challenges, and discover new gateways to creating a healthy mind, body, and spirit. We are like tiny seeds of potential, ready to burst into new, healthy ways of being!

There are many photos here of my own adventures in nature that have brought me so much pleasure and peace. I wish for every one of you to enjoy this same peace! Here’s another great article on Mindful Nature: Lessons From the Canadian Winter.
